THE 5,000TH PICTURE ......

I got a Canon Powershot S2 IS 5 megapixel, with 10x zoom, 2 1/2 years ago. I took picture # 5,000 today! The Boyz ... Lucky and Winston ... growing in pots outside between the snow of yesterday and the rain of tomorrow.
Anybody know how many pix a digital camera will last for?
Despite good reviews and an overall nice behaving camera, I just don't think mine takes sharp images. Maybe it is plumb wore out?

STILL WORKING ON IT .....

Every morning Savannah has rearranged that scalloped piece of art. She is a mysterious one, that girl. (She is barely visible, there in her "studio".)

The shoulder progress continues ... sleeping is getting easier. I ditch the sling four times a day for some very mild elbow and shoulder moving .. that feels good ... usually about 1/2 hr. I am 23 days with the sling so far ... maybe 19 to go. Today I held Zoey for awhile. I was nervous because she likes to move around a bit. But it worked fine and I know she was happy to be back too - her teeth were purring away pretty good!

Oh .. had a late night meeting yesterday so no post. But Racer looked great there for two days. Yesterday morning when we got up, little Racer was very listless and did not want any food. After awhile, BL gave him the old stand by of a dose of Metacam and a bunch of fresh pineapple juice from a syringe. In about 5 hours, he popped up and began to eat and be active and is back to his usual perky self. Whew ... who knows.

SMELLS LIKE APPLE ...

A friend down the road prunes his 6 or 7 apple trees very severely every year. He brings us a lot of the branches and we clip them into 8 inch lengths and store them in a big bucket. Most all the bunns love them and can strip the bark in a few hours! We have seen Savannah take a thin one and eat it like a piece of hay!

Now we have this big bucket of naked sticks, waiting for the burn pile.

WINSTON'S GOING SOFT ....

Winston has always been pretty feisty and wiggly. Lately he is being a real little cuddle-bum.

SEVEN YEARS WE'VE BEEN AT THIS .....

The Princess came to our house seven years ago today ...... she was 8 weeks old. First she was called Beau (short for beautiful) Bunny because we live in Bow, WA! She lived for several days in this big box........
Then she moved to this area we fixed, and there she has been all these years. She had Benson, her little Jersey Woolly mate for several years until Benson died 14 months ago.

Somehow we came to believe a well-cared for domestic bunny would live 7 years. So now every day with this one is a major treat and very special! And, she does not let us ever forget that! That is why she came to be renamed "The Princess!"

NOW WE'RE COOKING .....

I guess that whine got some attention!

There is a saying ..."When life hands you a bunch of lemons, make lemonade."

So the idea is to be thinking about lemons that this grand year of implosion is handing you ... and the lemonade you have made!

Be sure to leave me a comment when you publish your story on your blog, and I'll keep track of them all. Later we'll have a random drawing from all the entrants for some great loot!

Some of the loot has been promised already, but if anybody wants to add to the pot, let me know so we can be sure the complete prize is announced!

That's my Goldie, Goldie, Goldie. She takes two hands to hold, so I'm out of the picture for now ... both of us grumpy over that. Maybe in 3 more weeks or so.

NOW LISTEN HERE ....

Nineteen to three!
Three readers stopped to comment yesterday (and one of them was me!)
Nineteen readers passed on through to take a look at Sticky Bunns and never came back to say hi!
Note to self: Don't end blog with link to other escapable url!
ps: at least I know lots of you will be thinking of a lemonade story.

A BLUNT REMINDER ....

We are all supposed to be thinking about our 2009 "Making lemonade out of lemons" story. Probably can't guess mine, eh? Go ahead and start talking about yours on your blog, as it develops.

WHAT??? You got no lemons this year? You living on Mars or something? Be patient and pay attention .. it is surely the year of the lemon.
Oh by the way ... Furrybutts got stuck up again! Check them out on StickyBunns.

IT'S FROM ENGLAND - NOTTINGHAM!!!!

Benji, we, and all the bunns at The House of Rabbits are so excited and honored!
We got this overseas package - as far as Bunny Lady and me can ever remember, we never have gotten a package from overseas! It says it is from Miss Eve, Neville, and Gabriella .. with .. I'm sure .. the touch of a posthumous paw of Hugo!

Oh my what gifts! A big Rescue Rabbit sweat shirt, some exotic, delicious-looking chocolate covered with foreign words, and a sack of bunny treats! I think these will be selected by the appropriate recipients and thoroughly enjoyed ... right Racer?

What more can we say than THANKS! my oh my ....I had a two week Dr. visit and all is going just fine. I get to wear the sling 4 more weeks. ugh ... I can take it off some during the day for some simple elbow movements, but no shoulder movement at all. Sleeping in a sling is awful.
Part of my recovery, and especially the very minimal pain, I attribute to my special menu of old and proven Chinese techniques from D Moll. Especially the ear rubs, the good shoulder rub, and the Jing Well points stimulation. I also do much deep breathing and get lots of vitamin C, other anti-oxidants via a variety of fruits and vegetables, and avoid coffee and all caffeine. I had a full 2 inch incision with open surgery, so some of the ideas won't work, and some I am not limber enough to do. But I have enjoyed the ones I can do, and don't knock them until you've tried them!

I SENSE A TREAT .....

The Princess has a little "bunny" door to come back in the house. Her food crock is right near it. Sometimes we drop a little treat into that crock ... maybe a little piece of carrot.
"Tink!"
She goes straight up and then heads for that door .... she knows that sound!

Out of time tonight, but hope to have a neat surprise tomorrow here....

CLASSIC BAX ...

Isn't that just about as classic a mini-lop pose as you can imagine?
Baxter rarely goes up on objects, so this was special to see him there.
Oh yes, the crumpling ... well let's just not mention that to the Big Boy!

RACER'S TURN ...

Yes, Racer got a turn in the "Pen of the Big House" today. He was more of an explorer than a watcher like Chico. A nice day for bunns out ... still a little chilly though.

CHICO IN CHARGE .....

Chico is in the BIG house, clearly in charge of whatever comes and goes! BL has been putting some of the bunns in different-than-normal outside pens some. This is where Lucky and Winston usually play, but they got a different area down by Baxter and Zoey today. Savannah is in one next door pen, and she and Chico like spending quite a bit of time along the common fence!

L and W are down next to Baxter and Zoey and it is quite amusing to watch Bax, usually a pretty laid-back bunny, hot-foot it down where Zoey might be cavorting a bit with "The Boyz!" Lets everybody know their place quite firmly!

Slowly feeling better. A long way to go. Doc visit on Wed. Hopefully I'll get to start some motion exercises .. very confining having this thing in a sling all the time except for a few short "dangles" each day. Sleeping is terrible .. on my back on a couch or recliner .. for several 1 hour stints in the night. I can understand how people get hooked on drugs and much admire those who don't. Tonight I try earphones and music and some of the secret ancient oriental healing :<)

A NICE SATURDAY SQUEEZE .....

The Princess .... still the best there is! She does perfect in my lap ....

Thanks for the nice new award from Nips-N-Cuddles (Sammy et. al.) Definitely time for a special wall ...

EASY LIKE A FRIDAY RACER ...

Racer is a quiet snuggler, so I can manage him. Zoey or Goldie or Lucky (my usual holding buddies) would try to climb up my arm ok .. so in early september i am at the local, small-town, community fitness center. there's another "older" fellow there and we are comparing notes and blabbing. a young oriental girl is there too and asks about pushups! well, macho richard - that's the other guy - leaps right in and tells her it's easy. just do one the best you can. next time do two. then, next time three ... and so on. pretty soon she'll be strong enough and be knocking out 15 or 20 at a time, easy. anyway that makes me think i should add pushups into my workout - i could do that at home, easy, first thing in the morning. so i did ... 1, then 2, then 3, ..... by gosh i got to 27 and the next day i thought a truck had run over me.
i had forgot to connect my brain and be sure to take a day or two off between each day of doing some!! all that wear and tear of the rotator cuff moving over already somewhat worn and jagged bone caused some tearing .. and that is that. took quite a long time of conservative diagnosis and treatment (2 months and more) before it was clearly time for an mri - which showed the problem.
now i have probably 3 months of recover and rehab and then have the other shoulder done .. it is also pretty painful and pretty limited in capacity.

some other answers: no, i don't do night-time music, the rest of the house vetoed it. no i can't do much shoulder movement at all for about 6 weeks. i do take the sling off a few times a day to let my arm hang down and then flex it up along my front, to keep the elbow loose. yes, bunny snuggles help a lot - as does the help and support from bl .. it is quite a change for her ... there are many many of my usual chores i can no longer do and so she is learning them. i also can't drive for those 6 weeks .. or tuck in a shirt. no i haven't started the secret oriental treatments but plan to this weekend. right now it is hard to focus or concentrate on any one thing very long.

now, i hurt, so good night. thanks again for the kind words, helps, and patience!

WEDNESDAY'S ARRANGEMENT ....

Here is how Savannah likes things on Wednesday. That long white piece of stimulus-funded architecture from the other day is currently mostly pulled into the box for some secret work. Later she had it all out and used as a fence between box and crocks. She was still working on getting the scalloping "just so."
One full week of recovering. Most pain is gone .. now just 5 more weeks of a sling with a few careful arm "dangles" during the day. Oh, and sleeping on my back on what ever couch or recliner seems most comfy at any given time. I can go about 1 1/2 hrs max. and then up and prowling for my next "lay down."
Maybe more blog commenting in a couple of days .. typing is still awkward.

NOT QUITE ALL THERE YET ....

Benji stays pretty quiet so I can get a few minutes of bunny time. Got to be awful still with that left arm for about 4 weeks. Here I am 4 1/2 days into it! The lydocaine pump ran out after a bit more than 2 days and I'm to a percoset pill every 3 or 4 hours now. Magic, those are, but I'm pretty cautious about that stuff.

I can sleep about 1 1/2 hours at a time and sort of wander the night away! 10 rabbits, a refrigerator, a thermostat controlled propane heater, a huge herd of calving cows down the road, plenty of coyotes on a moonlit night, and a 100 plus car freight about 5 miles away making two runs a night do provide interesting sounds.

Lot's of fine care from BL ... bless her bunny-luvin' heart!

Couple more days will make a big difference .. thanks for all the cheer-ups! I've been reading blogs, but no writing yet .. still just one hand useful.....

HE'S BACK - SORT OF ..

apparently the operation was ok .. they sent him home with this jug of numbing med. and a button to push.

BL has him in a pullover to keep the slung-up arm warm.

So far so good .....

LATE BREAKING NEWS BULLETIN ....

ATTENTION.... ATTENTION .... The Bunns have commandeered the Blog, and I, The Princess, have been appointed to announce that on Wednesday, February 4, at 8:00am PST our uh, er, ahem ... uh .. beloved ... Rabbits' Guy will be "under the knife" having a torn rotator cuff repaired. We expect him home in drugged and jolly spirits by about noon. Bunny Lady has done a fine job getting ready for the care and attention he will demand ..
He will be "lurking" about the blog-o-sphere but probably not a heavy presence for a bit.

Please join us in wishing RG a speedy recovery .. it takes two to keep us happy here!

THE FUR OF ZOEY ...

Zoey has a great head and nape of hair! On her ears too .... and it takes no care other than what she and Baxter give it. She's a special one.

Boy, the next time we plan a great bunny caper, I better solicit input first .. you all have some great additions for the next Carrot Bowl!

PLAY BALL .....

The Bunns played the yearly Carrot Bowl today. Lops against the Uppy-ears.
Fittingly, Racer was elected referee ....The Lops had the advantage, sort of, since there were 5 of them and only 4 Uppys. But the Uppys had The Princess. Baxter took the opening "carrot-toss" and rumbled, untouched, 95 binkys for a score. The play was contested because Zoey, an Uppy, but Baxter's beloved, sprung him with a fierce block on Savannah just as she was about to floor him. Racer allowed the play to stand after Lucky and Winston bribed him with a carrot, one of the many spares.
After a steady back-and-forth contest punctuated by many hops, flops, and eating of the game carrots, Goldie finally heaved a magnificent carrot toss to Benji who scampered into the end zone to even the score.
At this point Winston stole the last carrot from Chico and ate it.
With no more carrots to be had, the game was called - a tie - and all bunnies flopped to the ground, exhausted, happy and full. A good time was had by all.
